Malta International Airport has reported that it has welcomed its four millionth passenger this year, achieving this milestone in record time: more than a month earlier than last year. The figure means that the airport saw an average of more than 12,000 passengers every day, enough to fill up Wembley Stadium each week.
The National Statistics Office has reported that total inbound tourist trips for August were estimated at 239,343, an increase of 9.4 per cent when compared to the corresponding month last year. Excluding the passengers who stayed overnight on board their berthed cruise ship, this increase amounted to 7.7 per cent.
Air Malta has announced that it is adding a weekly flight to and from the Tunisian city of Djerba on Tuesdays starting next week. It will be operating three weekly flights to/from Djerba on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
