Following the recent developments in Ukraine, with immediate effect and as a precautionary measure, Air Malta will be re-routing its flights to Moscow to avoid flying over Ukrainian airspace.
The National Statistics Office has reported that in the second quarter, sea transport between Malta and Gozo registered increases compared to the corresponding period last year. A total of 1,207,361 commuters travelled between Malta and Gozo during the second quarter this year, up by 4.9 per cent when compared to the corresponding period in 2013.
Air Malta has reported that it has suspended its daily scheduled flights to Tripoli, due to closure of Tripoli International Airport. This notice comes straight after Tripoli International Airport officials stated the airport could remain closed for a number of days due to security concerns.
