The Malta Institute of Management (MIM) has launched a new website www.maltamanagement.com and published its first book  Principles of Maltese Tax Law written by Dr. Robert Attard during its 45th Annual General Meeting at its premises in Pembroke.

This year’s Annual General Meeting was once again testimony to the work and dedication of the MIM Council and Staff with the Institute reporting a number of achievements on both the national and the international planes.

It has also organised a number of successful seminars and conferences, including; a second seminar on Islamic Finance (the first one having been held in October 2007) which, together with various meetings that MIM has had with Government Officials, has helped build on the efforts made in previous years in order to stimulate more discussions on the subject here in Malta.

On an international plane, the Institute’s holding of the Presidency of the European Management Association (EMA) has meant a greater involvement than ever before on the part of the Institute in international events and activities. Indeed since being elected to the Presidency MIM has taken part in two European projects namely, ANCOBEST and Management Futures. MIM has also spearheaded the organisation of the first Networking Forum held by EMA, drawing on a proposal made by Mr. Joseph Zammit, MIM Council member.

With regards to its educational programmes the Institute’s training arm has been responsible for diversifying the Institute’s portfolio of courses thanks to deepening relations with its foreign counterparts; in particular Edinburgh Business School (EBS), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) thanks to which MIM will now be providing CIMA’s Certificate in Islamic Finance here in Malta and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) which have accredited the locally developed Maltese Variant of their Advanced Diploma in International Taxation.

The past year has also witnessed the first intake of students on MIM’s first own diploma – the Advanced International Diploma in Business Management, as well as the development of MIM’s first degree programme – the Bachelor of International Business Management.

During this meeting appreciation was shown towards the Institute’s collaborating partners Air Malta, Bank of Valletta and Business Today, for their support to the Institute.
