Police work highlighted on Police Day
The Nationalist Party (PN) and the Labour Party (PL) both expressed appreciation at police work on the occasion of Police Day on Saturday.
The PN pointed out that thanks to the police force, safety in Malta is bringing peace of mind to the Maltese and Gozitan population. The police force is giving the country the best service possible despite the difficulties encountered which require an enormous personal sacrifice.
The strengthening of investment in the force during the past year has led to a reduction in crime with 9% less reports being submitted in police stations and at the police general headquarters in a year, the PN said.
On his part, Dr Michael Falzon, PL spokesperson for internal affairs and security said in a statement that security and public order in our country can be safeguarded only through the valuable work of the Police Corps and their continuous work and commitment towards society.
He added that in today’s modern and complex society, it is imperative that the police force keeps itself prepared and organized and most importantly also motivated to face new and ever increasing challenges. Thus the government ought to always ensure that the members of the Police force are constantly motivated during the course of their duties.
