The MATSEC Board has remarked that this year’s results, especially those at Advanced Level, are at a par with last year’s. In fact, over half the students who sat for their A Levels obtained grades A to C.

The MATSEC Board published its results on Thursday where it said this year students sat for 3829 exams. Results at Intermediate Level were also satisfactory.

When one takes into account the results obtained at Advanced Level, one can note excellent pass rates in most subjects such as in Maltese 90%, English 82.4%, French 92.6%, German 87.5%, Spanish 90.5%, Biology 88.1%, Physics 78.3% and Computing 81.9%.

Perhaps the most surprising result was in Chemistry, where there was a sharp drop in the pass rate of 8.2% compared to last year’s. These results could further improve after resits and revision of papers are over.

Education Minister Dolores Cristina congratulated the students and wished them further success in their studies or future careers.
