New Acting President

Former speaker Dr Anton Tabone is the new Acting President and has replaced Dr Gr George Hyzler who decided not to renew his role as Acting President due to personal reasons. Dr Tabone is currently serving in the absence of President George Abela who is abroad.
In a letter dated August 7 to Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Dr Hyzler thanked the PM and his predecessor Dr Edward Fenech Adami for the confidence shown in him in the past ten years.
On the other hand on Friday, Dr Gonzi expressed his appreciation, that of the government and of the people for Dr Hyzler’s continued dedication and service, saying that his career had been inspired by the values of honesty and solidarity.
