The site of the ex-Jerma Palace Hotel in Marscala is completely abandoned and has also become a dumping site for different kinds of rubbish.

The hotel closed down in March 2007 after 25 years or service. It was the only hotel in the south of Malta and was very popular with especially British and German tourists.

Luxurious apartments had to be built but there is no development to date at the hotel site. The hotel has also remained visible on various websites as if it were still open.
