SmartCity Malta CEO resigns
SmartCity Malta has announced the approval of Claudio Grech’s resignation which he recently submitted before the board and Chairman of SmartCity Malta, and will be effective from 1st October.
Claudio Grech said he is resigning due to diverging operating views. It has also been announced that Fareed Abdulrahman, SmartCity CEO, will be the interim CEO of SmartCity Malta until a replacement is appointed.
The SmartCity Malta board has extended their best wishes to Claudio in his future undertakings. On the occasion, the Chairman of SmartCity Malta, Deepak Padmanabhan said “Claudio has made a sterling contribution to SmartCity Malta. Apart from his incessant commitment, he has demonstrated excellent professional abilities in the discharge of his duties. Moreover, his effort to attract foreign direct investment aimed at creating an ICT destination of excellence in Malta was particularly significant and commendable; this has definitely enhanced the international visibility of Malta and SmartCity Malta.”
Claudio said, “It has been a privilege to have the opportunity to contribute towards the development of the knowledge-based township and the attainment of the national ICT economy aspirations. I sincerely wish TECOM and the Government the best of luck with its continued implementation.”
