Maltese athletes to participate in European special Olympics
Six swimmers from the Vodafone Malta Foundation sponsored-Special Olympics Malta have been selected to travel to Spain, Palma di Mallorca for the European Championships to be held between 14 and 19 October. Thirty Five countries from Europe will be participating in this Aquatic Championship organized by Special Olympics Spain.
Alexia Wetz, Maria Wetz, Charmaine Mifsud, John Paul Fenech, Nathaniel Grasso and Ivan Mangion will be swimming to win a medal for Malta. Under the supervision and coaching of Coach Naomi Sultana Micallef and Assistant Elaine Bonnici, these athletes have been training everyday for the last 6 months to reach their best and be prepared for the competition.
Special Olympics Malta provides training to all athletes in various sports disciplines and also gives an opportunity to these athletes to hold and bare the Maltese flag during competitions overseas. Training for all athletes within Special Olympics Organization is held twice weekly all year round and thus prepare each and every athlete in the best possible way.
