An article featuring Malta appeared last Monday in the Al Ahram International. This paper goes to all parts of the world and is read by the numerous Arabs all over the globe.The Embassy of Malta in Cairo has managed to secure considerable media coverage over the past months, in an effort to increase the knowledge about Malta in the Arab world.

In view of the fact that Egypt Air has been flying to Malta for a year, this exercise is considered essential. The title of the article is Friendly People, Simple Procedures to visit the Charming Island: The Maltese Phoenix is the Love Messenger between Arabs and Europe.

The article promotes Malta’s touristic attractions, and points out the factors that make Malta the meeting point between Europe and the Arabs. Some of the factors illustrated in this long article were the Maltese language, the Maltese people, and the names of places in Malta.

It was also mentioned that Malta throughout the years has attracted a lot of high level meetings such as the Malta Summit between President George Bush Senior and Mikhail Gorbachev, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, in 1989.

The article concluded by saying that Malta will continue to be a messenger between Europeans and Arabs, so much so that in the middle of this month a Liaison Office between the EU and League of Arab States will be inaugurated in Malta.
