GO announce new internet and phone packages
GO has announced new rates on its internet On The Move services starting from only €5.99, as well as launched ‘Duo Pack’ an innovative bundle of ADSL internet and fixed phone line telephony providing customers with six months free internet.
These new initiatives were announced during a Business Breakfast Forum organised by GO for its customers, business partners and the media. The forum, entitled ‘GO Internet Solutions: Made For You’ was addressed by GO’s Chief Executive Officer David Kay, GO’s Chief Operating Officer Norbert Prihoda, Senior Marketing Manager of Emitac Mobile Solutions LLC (BlackBerry®) Janne Kilpelainen, Smart Technologies CEO Joseph Aquilina, and GO’s Head International, Wholesale and Alliances Christian Sammut.
During the forum, the various speakers gave an overview of GO’s total internet solutions which cater for all customers including the individual user, SMEs and large corporations. The latest BlackBerry® handsets were showcased, as well as the range of Laptop Connect models covering various laptops which are bundled for free with GO’s On the Move tariffs.
CEO David Kay said: “GO’s investment in the second submarine cable to Sicily, the increased deployment of fibre technology, as well as our superior 3G network providing speeds of up to 7.2Mbps demonstrate GO’s determination to continue being the leader in this field. Our customers can be assured that they will always get the best from GO, thanks also to our superior customer service.”
GO’s COO, Norbert Prihoda, said GO is the first communications provider in Malta to offer fixed line internet for free. When announcing the Duo Pack, he said this new package builds on the strengths of other highly successful packages launched by GO, namely Home Pack and Business Pack. Duo Pack gives customers the convenience of one package containing internet connectivity as well as unlimited GO-to-GO fixed line calls with Talk Anytime and the added convenience of one bill.
Duo Pack is selling at the price of the Talk Anytime monthly rate of only €9.99 per month for the first six months, during which customers get their internet for free, apart from the unlimited phone calls to other GO numbers. After the first six months, Duo Pack is charged at €19.99. In addition, customers who subscribe early can get €10 off from a Philips cordless phone.
Meanwhile, recently GO has also doubled the speed of its entry level ADSL internet product at no extra cost to its customers. In addition, new internet customers can benefit from 50% off from any new ADSL internet connection for the first three months.
Mr Prihoda also announced new ‘On The Move’ data/ internet rates which have been simplified and which allow customers to access the internet from all devices – from a Web-enabled mobile phone, to PDAs, BlackBerry® smartphones, laptops, netbooks and other handheld devices.
Mr Prihoda said the rates start from €5.99 a month and provide customers with various monthly bundles – up to 7GB a month. In addition, customers can opt to purchase additional bundles starting from €1 per 20MB if you are on the EUR 5.99 plan and from EUR1.75 for 200 MB if you are on the higher plans. The per MB rate goes as low as 0.78c/MB. In addition, GO announced also that subscribers of the On The Move tariffs can get free unlimited access to several popular web and WAP sites until 31 January 2010. These include, amongst others: ebay, facebook, myspace, twitter, linkedin, tagged, hi5, flickr and yahoo. The free usage applies when such sites are accessed through the web or WAP browser, and not through any downloadable applications.
“Our customers now have the benefit of accessing the internet while on the move at the highest-available speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and with the lowest mobile data rates on the island. GO is the first communications provider in Malta to deploy high speed mobile internet and data of up to 7.2Mbps. This is based on our superior HSDPA nationwide infrastructure which is allowing mobile users to benefit from double speeds while on the move,” said Mr Prihoda.
Meanwhile, as from 1 November 2009, GO has introduced further discounts on its internet mobile roaming services around Europe and is offering its data mobile customers the lowest data roaming rate available in the market. On The Move post-paid/ contract data customers now enjoy a pay per use rate of just €2.50 per MB on all GO roaming network providers in all EU countries without exception, charged with 1 KB increments via all roaming network providers in the EU – meaning that a GO roaming customer now pays only €0.0024 for every KB consumed. This rate shows a discount of 50% over the previous charge as the discount previously applied to a few preferred networks while all the rest cost €5 per MB. All set-up charges have now been removed and charges are now on a per KB basis meaning that, with immediate effect, customers simply pay for what they use at a standard price for all EU operators.
GO Pay As You GO data mobile customers using data roaming in the EU countries enjoy a pay per use rate of just €3.50 charged per 64KB on all EU networks – an outstanding rebate when one considers that they previously paid the standard rate of €8 per MB, charged with 64 KB increments. In addition, the BlackBerry® EU add-on has been reduced from €15 to €10 with immediate effect.
