On Saturday evening, Hamrun Football pitch was once again transformed into a rugby pitch for hosting a seven aside tournament, the event was organised by Sun Dreams Travel in collaboration with the Malta Rugby Football Union and sponsored by the official youth rugby sponsors Gasan Mamo.

Five teams in all took part in the tournament, Hampshire 1, Hampshire A, Alligators, Kavallieri and Sharks. In all 10 games were played and a grand total of 42 tries were scored.

The tournament was ran in a round robin format with each team playing each other once, minimum of four games and with two teams with the best results making it through to the final
match.

7’s rugby is a fantastic game of handling, passing, space awareness and running speed and neither of the 5 teams disappointed the crowd watching the games, throughout the whole evening of games the level of rugby being displayed was to a very good standard and all the matches were closely contested as no team ran out without having to play to their very best to win.

The results at the end of the tournament stood at:
Hampshire 1 : 15 pts 22 tries
Hampshire A : 11 pts 12 tries
Sharks : 7 pts 6 tries
Alligators : 6 pts 2 tries
Kavallieri : 5 pts 0 tries

The final match was contested between Hampshire 1 and Hampshire A, with Hampshire 1 being the winners of the tournament with a score of 15 – 5.
