Malta has still not announced who will be replacing Joe Borg as Maltese Commissioner for the European Union. Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said that this decision will be announced in due course.

Social Policy Minister John Dalli, who seems most likely to get the job and who had a one-to-one personal meeting last Tuesday with Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, would not confirm or otherwise.
