Malta in 8th place in Junior Eurovision
14-year-old Francesca and 10-year-old Michaela gave an energetic and lively performance with their song Double Trouble on Saturday evening in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Kyiv in Ukraine.
However, the result was rather disappointing for Malta as the Gozitan duo ended the festival in 8th place while the winner was Ralf Mackenbach of the Netherlands with the song Click Clack.
Meanwhile, 7-year-old Enya Magri, who took part in the Italian Song Festival Zecchino d’Oro in Bologna on Saturday, gave a good interpretation of her song Castelli di Sabbia (Castles of Sand).
Despite knowing only a few words in Italian, she sang impeccably and with good diction. Before she sang she asked the presenters if she could give a message to her sister in Malta. She sent her greetings in perfect Italian. This year’s festival was the 52nd one and Enya was the 9th Maltese child to take part.
