After the success of last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk, Masquerade Theatre Company is back at the Manoel Theatre with another spectacular pantomime, Aladdin, being directed by Anthony Bezzina with an original script by Malcolm Galea who is also playing Widow Twankey.

As described by Tony “The excitement and spectacle of the panto is a perfect way for children to experience the magical atmosphere of theatre.”

Aladdin is set in Old Peking and has the right ingredients to make it a magical spectacle: a mystical flying carpet, an old lamp, a powerful genie, a gorgeous princess, a giant panda, an evil villain and much more.

Masquerade have brought together an outstanding cast of talented performers and an experienced crew who are now working hard to ensure a fun packed show full of catchy sing-along songs, laugh out loud antics, lavish costumes and a dazzling set design.

The cast includes Philip Stilon as Wishee Washee, Dorothy Bezzina as the Princess, Francis Ghersci as Aladdin, Joseph Zammit as the Emperor, Luke Dalli as the Genie, Louis Cassar as the evil Apatizz, Daniel Mangion as the Chinese Policeman, and an energetic chorus playing all the other roles.

The music will be directed by Kevin Abela, vocal coaching by Gillian Zammit and choreography by Jes Sciberras. Ernest Camilleri is in charge of costume design, Harry Borg will be designing the sets, Jackie Grima in charge of make-up and Michael & Guy the numerous outrageous wigs.

Aladdin opens this Friday 18th December and runs till 6th January.  Tickets from 21246389, bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt or www.teatrumanoel.com.mt.  Hotline 79793737.
