John Dalli has indicated his priorities as European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy in written replies to questions submitted by the European Parliament.

Mr Dalli explained that since we are living in a time of economic and social crisis, priority would lie in the health sector. However, of equal importance is the consumer who is often on the receiving end of negative market trends but also helping to sustain growth.

He said that the commission would do its best to make sure that citizens’ demands for better services are met and that they are better empowered as consumers.

He also indicated that he wants to boost the European agro-industry by putting in placae better regulatory standards for animals, plants, seeds, food and feed.
