Video: Controversial deal in climate change conference
There is an agreement between the major countries of the world on climate change but this has been criticised by non-governmental organisations as falling short of what is needed. Some developing nations criticised the deal and the way it was reached between the United States, China and some other countries. According to the agreement, an attempt will be made to limit the rise in temperature to less than 2 degrees and deliver billions or euros of aid to developing countries in the next three years. The deal was reached at the United Nations conference on Climate Change that was taking place in the Bella Centre in Copenhagen Denmark. The main aim of this conference was to forumulate a new agreement after the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012. It was held in Denmark because it was Europe’s turn to hold the next conference on climate change.
UN Secretary General Bam Ki-moon welcomed the agreement but insisted it has to be legally binding next year.
