ITS students producs thousands of Xmas Logs and mince pies for charity
The President of Malta and Mrs. Abela on Wednesday 16th December paid a visit to ITS to see the final preparations for the charity campaign in aid of the Community Chest Fund. The main event will be held on Saturday 19th December at The Palace Courtyard in Valletta and will mark the Official Launch of L-Istrina 2009.Dr George Abela was ecstatic to see hundreds of logs and thousands of mince pies in front of him, all prepared by ITS students under the supervision of their lecturers and members of the Young Offenders Unit Rehabilitation Scheme at the Corradino Correctional Facility. The proceeds from the sale of the over 1,000 feet of Christmas Logs and more than 10,000 mince pies will go to the Community Chest Fund. These will be available during the main event on Saturday 19th December.
He had words for praise for the students who worked hard to produce these thousands of items and said it shows how much the Maltese youth care for those in need.
The President toured the premises for the first time, visiting the main kitchens and restaurants. Then he was entertained to lunch at the Pembroke Suite Restaurant, where he was served by students under the supervision of their lecturers. The menu was based on traditional Maltese ingredients.
After lunch he was presented with a memento and Mrs. Abela was given a hamper with delicacies prepared by the students.
