Video: Warm wishes by President and PM to Maltese emigrants
In a special message to Maltese emigrants, President George Abela has emphasised that it is an honour for him to be of service to all Maltese, including those who have emigrated and are making a living abroad.
The President said that he considers these emigrants and their descendents to be proud ambassadors of Malta and praised those who have made a success of their careers or professions.
He also augured that all Maltese emigrants continue to respect the traditional Maltese Christian values despite the many difficulties and challenges they come across in life.
In his message, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi also congratulates those Maltese who have made a success of their lives abroad and adds that their success is of great satisfaction to us and for which those Maltese living in Malta should be grateful.
The Prime Minister said that Maltese emigrants always left a good impression wherever they went due to their Christian values, hard work and Maltese heritage whilst also integrating themselves well in their new societies.
Both the President and the Prime Minister ended their messages by making reference to the visit of Pope Benedict XVI next year and hoped that this Papal visit will help to unite all Maltese including those living abroad.
