An elderly farmer was injured when his plough ended up on top of him in a bizarre accident.

The police reported that the 80-year-old farmer was reversing his plough at around 12:05 CET in Kercem Gozo when, for some reason, this ended up on top of him. At the time of the incident the farmer, who lives in Kercem, was near his field.

The man was taken to the Gozo General Hospital where he was certified to be seriously injured but not in danger of dying. He was later brought over to Mater Dei Hospital for further observation.
