20 people arrested over drug finds
The police arrested 20 people following drug finds over the New Year.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at his apartment in Naxxar after 70 ecstasy pills were found in his bedroom at his parent’s residence in Naxxar. It is thought he intended to sell them at a party later on.
Two other men, 31 years old and 32 years old respectively, were arrested close to Zammit Clapp Hospital in St Julians after they were found to be in possession of heroin, methadone and ammunition.
Other drugs wer found at Ta’ Qali, Paceville and Ħal Farruġ. At a party at Ta’ Qali 5 men and 3 women were arrested. They are between 17 and 30 years old. They were found to be in possession of cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis resin.
At Paceville another 7 men, aged between 17 and 61 years old, were arrested, after they were found to be in possession of cocaine and cannabis resin.
At yet another party at Ħal Farruġ, the police arrested a 22-year-old man from Attard after he was found to be in possession of cocaine.
Another 22-year-old man from Msida was arrested in Gzira after he was caught driving a stolen car. He was also found to be in possession of packets of cocaine ready to be sold.
The arrested people are expected to be arraigned in court in the next few days. A few of them will also be charged with drug trafficking.
