Air Malta coping with severe UK weather
Despite the severe weather disruptions across Europe, particularly in the UK, Air Malta has normally operated its two flights to London Heathrow on Wednesday. The airline has however cancelled its flight KM 116/7 to Gatwick due to the closure of the airport.
Despite these events being out the airline’s control Air Malta has announced that it will be operating an extra flight to London Gatwick on Thursday morning. The airline also offered free re-booking to passengers booked on Wednesday’s cancelled flight to travel to London Heathrow or on the next flights to London in the coming days.
Air Malta’s extra flight KM3118 will be departing on Thursday to London Gatwick at 07:00 CET with the return KM3119 scheduled to depart Gatwick airport bound for Malta at 10:20 CET.
The airlines said it extends its support to its passengers in such circumstances and tries to minimise the inconveniences by limiting disruptions whilst offering alternatives where interruptions in services are necessary.
Other airlines simply cancelled flights without giving their clients any alternatives. In such situations the Maltese airline gives utmost importance to the safety and well-being of its clients and crew and whilst it apologises to its clients for the delays encountered, Air Malta always abides and operates to strict safety procedures in the interests of all, the airline insisted.
Severe winter weather has brought dangerous conditions and has disrupted transport in various parts of Europe especially in the UK, where thousands of schools have closed and travellers have been hit by major delays after heavy snowfall hit large parts of the country.
This is in sharp contrast to the weather in Malta which is still warm with maximum temperatures regularly reaching 19 degrees Celsius daily. However, Malta is also expected to experience some cold over the weekend as night time temperatures plunging to 8 degrees Celsius and daytime temperatures struggling to make it to 13 degrees Celsius.
