The 42-year-old Nigerian accused of importing 3kg of cocaine hidden in his luggage has been found guilty by 7 votes to 2 in the first trial by jury of the year. He was sentenced to 20 years in jail and fined 70,000 euros.

Meanwhile, an illegal immigrant who escaped from detention four months ago was sentenced to 6 months in jail after he was caught trying to escape from Malta with a false Spanish passport.
