Three men guilty of theft
23 year old Justin Polidano and his 52 year old father Joe were jailed on Tuesday morning after they pleaded guilty to robbing a house and damaging its front door, as well as driving without both a licence and insurance.
Justin Polidano was jailed for four years and three months, after also pleading guilty to relapsing. His sentence has amounted to five years as another suspended sentence was added. His father was jailed for three years and six months.
The father and son duo were caught in September 2009 coming out of a house they had just robbed with a bag holding household items.
PC Emanuel Mamo, who was off-duty at that time, saw them acting suspiciously around the house and called for the mobile squad for assistance.
Later on Tuesday, Alfred Bugeja, better known as il-Porporina was found guilty by jury of stealing a car and all that was in it.
The 53 year old was declared guilty with seven votes to two. He stole a Toyota Hilux from Naxxar on the afternoon of 15 May 2006.
The pick-up truck belonged to Raymond Pirotta, who left it on its own whilst still running. A shot gun, bullets for the gun and €35 were found in the car.
