Archbishop Cremona visiting Maltese emigrants
Archbishop Paul Cremona is catching a flight to Toronto on Thursday 29th April. He will be on his way to meet Maltese communities who emigrated to Toronto, Detroit and New York.
The Archbishop is expected to arrive at the International Airport of Toronto in the early hours of Friday 30th April. His agenda is packed, however he is not leaving out a meeting with the Auxiliary Bishop William McGrattan and Maltese patients located at Runnymede hospital.
On Sunday 9th Mary, the Archbishop will be celebrating Mass at St Paul Apostle Church on the 100th anniversary of the Missionary Society of St Paul. In Detroit, Archbishop Cremona is meeting Archbishop Allen Vigneron.
The Archbishop will leave Toronto for New York on Saturday 15th May, where he will not only have several meetings with Maltese emigrants, but also celebrating Mass with the Archbishop of New York, Archbishop Timoty Dolan at St Patrick’s Cathedral. He will also meet with the Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican for the United Nationas Celestino Migliore.
In a message sent to the Maltese people in Canada, the Archbishop stated how happy this opportunity of meeting Maltese emigrants is making him. He stated that in this visit, he would like to share his happiness with those who have succeeded in the country, and his sorrow with those who did not have positive experiences after emigrating.
Finally, the Archbishop said that he wants to make their faith stronger as well as passing over the message that Pope Benedict XVI made to the Maltese on his visit.
The Archbishop is expected to return to Malta on Thursday 20th May. He will be accompanied by Fr Alfred Vella, chairperson of the Commission of Emigrants.
