Malta Journalism Awards announced
The Institute of Journalists (IGM) has announced the winners of the 20th edition of the Malta Journalism Awards during a ceremony at The Palace Hotel in Sliema on Saturday night.
An independent jury made up of President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami as Chairman, together with Fr. Joe Borg and Mr Tony Cassar Darien, announced that Mr Victor Aquilina had won the Gold Award. The gold award is normally given to a journalist who has gone beyond his or her call of duty.
In the previous 10 editions, the Gold Awards had been won by Fr Joe Borg (1998), Anton Cassar (1999), Frank Attard (2000), J.G. Vassallo (2001), Anthony Montanaro (2002), John Manduca (2003), Charles Grech Orr (2004), Pawlu Carachi (2005), Paul Saliba (2006), Lino Cassar (2007), Dr. Joseph Micallef Stafrace (2008) and Lino Spiteri (2009).
Another independent jury made up of Mr Joe Felice Pace as Chairman, together with Dr Joe Mifsud, Mrs Sylvana Debono, Mr Paul Galea and Mr Ronnie Muscat evaluated the Malta Journalism Awards:
