Increase in cruise passenger movements

During April 2010, 33 cruise liners called in the Port of Valletta. Between them these vessels carried 55,026 passengers. This represents an increase of around 17,532 passengers over April 2009. One vessel, the Boudicca, cancelled its call.
According to a statement by VISET, the US cruise liner Disney Magic called in port on its maiden call in April. This was the first of another nine cruise liners which will be making their maiden call in the Port of Valletta during the rest of the year.
Since the beginning of the year, 100,728 passengers called in the Port of Valletta, compared to 69,275 passengers during the same months of 2009.
