Tickets for Elton John concert now on sale
Sir Elton John, whose four-decade long career has established him as one of the biggest all-time artists, will be performing live at The Granaries in Floriana on Sunday the 26th of September 2010, organised by NnG Promotions. Tickets for the concert are now available to the public.
This is the second time that Elton John will be performing to a Maltese audience. His first concert, back in 2003, was also organised by NnG Promotions when Sir Elton performed in front of thousands of fans in a memorable event that is still talked about to this day.
“Since Elton John first performed solo in Malta we have had continuous requests for his return. The 2003 concert was a two and a half hour music fest that is still etched in the history of Maltese musical events and we anticipate that the upcoming performance will be equally special. He himself was impressed by the audience’s reaction to his concert and had in fact promised to return to Malta,” said NnG representative Nigel Camilleri.
Sir Elton John is considered as one of the most successful solo artists of all time and throughout his career has sold in excess of 250 million records. Known for a number of classic hits, such as I’m Still Standing, Nikita, Your Song, Daniel, Rocket Man, The Lion King’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Crocodile Rock and Tiny Dancer amongst others. His tribute to Princess Diana, Candle In The Wind, sold over 37 million copies, becoming the best selling single of all time and today remains one of the most well-loved and often-played songs in history.
Knighted in 1998 for his contribution to the English music scene, Elton John is also well-known for his continuous campaigning for AIDS awareness. He is also one of the prime movers on the international gay rights scene and was ranked as the most successful male solo artist by Billboard magazine in 2008.
Percussionist Ray Cooper will also be accompanying Elton John on stage. Cooper, who started his career in the 60s recording with The Who, has also collaborated with Elton John on most of his 1970s albums. Cooper also did a short stint with The Rolling Stones playing percussion for their 1974 It’s Only Rock’n Roll album. He has also recorded with George Harrison, Art Garfunkel, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Mark Knopfler, Roger Waters, The Traveling Wilburys, Maynard Ferguson and Ravi Shankar among others.
The concert is being supported by Vodafone and MIA. Over the recent years, NnG Promotions have established themselves as the leading promoters of large scale concerts involving top international artists including Joseph Calleja, Ronan Keating, Roger Waters, Bryan Adams, Sting, Elton John, Eros Ramazzotti, Duran Duran, Michael Bolton, Tom Jones, Abba – The Show and Laura Pausini.
Tickets, starting from €35, are available from all Vodafone, Agenda and Exotique outlets or from www.nngpromotions.com.
