Aikido Master in Malta to train and examine students
Aikido students of Malta’s Yamato Dojo who are currently undergoing intensive preparation for their next grading middle of June will be given a boost by the presence of Master Renato Tamburelli (V Dan). Master Tamburelli will be in Malta between 12th and 20th June to prepare and examine Maltese Aikido students. He will also be conducting a seminar at the club open to the public.
Sensei Tamburelli is uniquely placed to assist in the technical development of Aikido in Malta. He is the present head of the National Technical Commission of Italy’s Aikido federation, AIKO, to which the Yamato Dojo is officially affiliated.
One of Italy’s leading Aikido practitioners, Sensei Tamburelli (5 Dan) from Rome has been practicing Aikido for over 35 years. He has studied under two of Aikido’s founding Japanese masters Hiroshi Tada Sensei (9 Dan) and Nobuyoshi Tamura Sensei (8 Dan). In the late 80s, he was one of the founding members of AIKO association. Tamburelli sensei holds a PhD in Anthropology.
The seminar will include training sessions for all club members, a special session for Yudansha (black belts) and, in a first for the club, there will be a dedicated session for female members of the club. Master Tamburelli will also oversee a grading session for Aikido Yamato Club students. A beginner’s course will be commencing in July.
Aikido is a Japanese martial art that focuses primarily on self defence and the development of a harmonious, co-operative spirit.
Members of the public are welcome to watch the open sessions on Monday 14th & Wednesday 16th between 18.30CET to 20.30CET and Saturday 19th between 17.00CET to 18.30CET. The Seminar will be held at the Aikido Yamato Club located at the Maria Assumpta Girls Secondary School in Hamrun. For further information go to www.aikidomalta.net or facebook: aikidomalta.
