45-year-old Salvatore Mangion was found guilty in a trial by jury by eight votes to one and was jailed for life.
Mangion, known by his nickname “Kalanġ”, had been accused of the murder, committed 26 years ago, of Rożina Zammit from Safi. Mangion was also found guilty of theft.
This particular case was solved when Mangion bragged about the murder with other prisoners at the Corrective Facilities at Corradino. Mangion is currently serving a 21-year prison sentence for the identical murder committed 12 years ago of an elderly neighbour.
