International Contemporary Arts Festival in Gozo
Cittadell’Arte Project is presenting a major International cultural event taking place this summer on the island of Gozo.
The venue hosting this festival is the Citadel in Victoria, Gozo. The aim is to put Gozo on the international cultural map and invite local and international famous artists: painters, sculptors, glass designers, photographers, fashion designers, videographers, film directors and musicians to display their work.
Cittadell’Arte Foundation believes this is an excellent opportunity for the artists as well as for the thousands of visitor that visit Gozo every week. The Citadel is the most popular spot on Gozo and should be brought alive with attractive cultural international events.
The Cittadella Centre for Culture and Arts within the fortified bastions of the Citadel is a historical building which dates back to the period of the Knights of St. John; over 200 pieces of art from Maltese, Gozitan, Australian, Argentinean, Peruvian, French, Luxembourgian, Dutch, German, Bulgarian and Macedonian will be exhibited in the three halls within the Cultural Centre.
Every Wednesday evening an event will take place on St. John’s Bastions as part of this Festival: Sunset Dreams at the Cittadella will take place until 4th August 2010; a number of events are to take place, such as fashion shows and musical entertainment from Australia, Slovenia, Italy, France and Austria.
From this location once can see a magnificent panoramic view of the island. GOZO International Contemporary Arts Festival aims to inspire, produce and create a responsible change in society through ideas and creative projects.
This Festival has been set up as a concrete implementation of the International Contemporary Art Project, proposing a new role for the artist: to place art in direct interaction with all areas of mankind forming society, incorporates two ideas: the well protection of Art and to defend the fortified city, which corresponds to the idea of openness and interrelationship with the world.
GOZO International Contemporary Arts Festival pursues a core objective: to bring into effect the artistic intervention in all spheres of civil society to contribute responsibly and profitably to address the profound epochal changes taking place.
