On Tuesday, around 40 patients were being treated in the Child Clinic corridor and in Areas 1 & 2 of the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital due to a lack of bed space.

Some of these patients had been there for over 15 hours waiting to be provided a bed in one of the wards. This situation is causing concern and embarrassment for the patients as they are ‘on display’ to whoever is entering the Emergency Department.
