A 61-year-old English woman living in Sliema was critically injured when she was hit by a car in Tower Road Sliema at 00:20 CEST on Monday.

The police reported that the woman and a man were crossing the road at a zebra crossing when they were hit by a Kia Picanto car driven by a 26-year-old man from Lija.

The woman was rushed to hospital where it was certified she was critically injured and in danger of dying. Her condition has improved somewhat these past few hours and she is now in a stable but critical condition.
