Members of the LifeCycle Challenge team, now down to 41 after two sprained their knees, are expected to reach Germany on Thursday after an uphill struggle.

The cyclists left Venice on Monday, stopping in Lugano on Tuesday night. They left their refuge on Wednesday for a 140-kilometre trek that included a ride through four tunnels and across the St Gotthard Pass.
