Warrant stops MEPA enforcement actions
Posted on August 26th, 2010
Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) officials were stopped during enforcement actions on illegal rooms in Wardija, after being presented by warrants of prohibitory injunction on Thursday morning.
Spokesman for MEPA said that in 2005 they were presented with several applications relating to rooms and one to convert them to stables. On visiting the site in Wardija however they found rooms with kitchenettes and bathrooms rather then stable.
An application to sanction and appeal was refused and MEPA embarked on direct action on Thursday morning, MEPA spokesman said in a statement. This hands on action however was stopped mid-way when the tenants present a provisionally upheld court warrant to the officials.
