On Thursday evening, President George Abela and his delegation were welcomed by the Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Markos Kyprianou,  Malta’s Ambassador to Cyprus, Dr. Richard Vella Laurenti and Mr Michael Louisides, Hon Consul, upon their arrival at Larnaca International Airport.

President Abela was invited by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Demetris Christofias for the celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Republic of Cyprus. 

On Friday morning, President George Abela visited the wall dividing the two communities: the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. Later, President Abela was welcomed by the Mayor of Lefkara, Mr Andreas Shoshilos and visited the village of Lefkara. 

In the evening, President George Abela met H.E. the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias and attend the celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Republic of Cyprus, which included the dinner hosted by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, in honour of His Excellency and the distinguished guests.  

President George Abela and his delegation will return to Malta on Saturday afternoon.
