A motorcycle pillion rider has been awarded damages of €36,500 after she suffered permanent injuries in a crash between a motorcycle and a car on the Rabat road in 2006, The Times reports.
The woman, Janica Marie Leaney, was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by Leigh Bishop. According to the report, the collision between the motorcycle and a car driven by Ryan Abilla, happened when the motorcycle attempted to overtake the car as it started to turn into a side road.
The court found that Mr Abdilla was most at fault but Mr Bishop had also contributed to the incident. The payment of damages is therefore to be shared between the two with Mr Abdilla paying two thirds of the amount, the report adds.
