A 45-year old Russian crewman was medically evacuated from his vessel and taken to hospital after he suffered a heart attack on Sunday afternoon.

The Armed forces of Malta (AFM) said that the Moscow born seaman was transferred to Mater Dei Hospital by an AFM rescue helicopter, from his ship whilst it was in a position some 18 nautical miles from Delimara Point, anchored on the Hurd Bank.

The vessel was a Liberian registered oil tanker MT “Transsib Bridge”, which was navigating to Malta from Las Palmas.
