A car was destroyed in an explosion in Canon Bonnici Street, Hamrun, on Wednesday morning. During the explosion three people were injured.
The police confirmed that a red car Fiat Fiorino which had just been parked in front of a garage exploded at about 09:40hrs CET.
Local media reported that the driver, Keith Galea, had just entered his mother’s house. It was said that the man was released from prison, after having served time for attempted murder. The man was originally sentenced to 22 years imprisoned which were later reduced to five years.
The injured were rushed to Mater Dei hospital, the police has also launched an investigation. Armed Forces of Malta explosives experts were on site to investigate the nature of the explosive device, its location outside or inside the car, and whether it had a timer.
