A 36-year-old man was stabbed and critically injured in an argument with his wife on Saturday afternoon.

The police confirmed that the argument took place in their home in Triq San Karlu, Ghaxaq, at about 12:15hrs CET.

The husband was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.  The 35-year-old woman was also taken to Mater Dei Hospital, however she sustained no injuries.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti is holding an inquiry.
