A 27-year-old man from Kalkara was critically injured in a traffic accident early on Thursday morning at  Labour Avenue, Zabbar.

The police said that at around 02:00hrs CET a Toyota Vitz, driven by the 27-year-old, was involved in collision with a Fiat Fiorino, driven by a 28-year-old man from Birzebbuga.  The Vitz then crashed into an electricity pole.

The driver was rushed to Mater Dei hospital where he is being treated for critical injuries.

Further investigations are underway.
