The Malta Institute of Management (MIM) in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), launched this afternoon at the MFSA two educational programmes: the Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme and the Certificate and Diploma in Offshore Financial Administration.

The programmes were launched during a workshop held in collaboration with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), and titled “Board Effectiveness –The Central Role of the Company Secretary”.

Mr Simon Osbourne, Chief Executive and Joint Head of ICSA Board Evaluation, tackled various issues such as main principles of the UK Corporate Governance Code, the job and financial rules, the Certificate in Offshore Finance and Administration, benefits, and other interesting aspects for company secretaries.

This workshop follows in the steps of the seminars held these past years such as the seminar “Duties and Responsibilities of Company Secretaries“, and also of the book “Responsibilities of Officers of a Limited Liability Company” by Dr. Robert Attard.

Company Secretaries play a pivotal role in today’s World. They are called to constantly ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the board and the smooth running of the company. Company Secretaries are also called to play a pro-active and central role in the governance of the company. This requires excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of the company’s business and applicable regulations, strength of character, integrity, and above all a professional approach. This is the proposal of this course.

The ICSA Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme (CSQS) is one of the broadest-based professional qualifying schemes available, therefore equipping you for a variety of different career paths from corporate administrator to head of corporate governance. CSQS is internationally recognized and highly valued by employers worldwide, offering you the passport to a variety of challenging, versatile and well-rewarded careers in both the UK and overseas.
