Fault at Delimara causes short power cut
Posted on May 10th, 2012
Enemalta has reported that at 16.54, some localities in Malta and Gozo suffered a loss of supply. Due to a fault at Delimara Power Station which led to load shedding some localities in the north of Malta, parts of Gozo, Freeport, Sliema and Gzira were affected.
The supply at Freeport was restored after 6 minutes while Sliema and Gzira were energized at 17.06. With the help of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), Enemalta engineers are able to control Distribution Centers remotely and thus are able to restore supply in a shorter time. Supply was fully restored at 17:17 CET, 23 minutes after the power cut occurred.
Enemalta would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
