Fishing trawler escorted to safety

A Maltese fishing trawler was escorted to safety by the Armed Forces of Malta’s Rescue Coordination Centre at Luqa Barracks on Wednesday following a distress call from around 40 nautical miles north of the Italian island of Linosa.
The fishing-trawler, Mikele Rosario, was taking in water at 1755 CEST when in Italian territorial waters, and an Italian Coast-Guard vessel was dispatched by the Italian authorities to support the AFM effort.
