A 14-year-old French boy is in a critical condition after he was hit by a car while crossing the Birkirkara bypass, at around 17:00hrs of Thursday afternoon.

The police said the teenager was hit by a black Chevrolet driven by a 19-year-old woman from St Julians while crossing the bypass near the University of Malta. He was rushed to Mater Dei hospital where he is being treated for serious and life-threatening injuries.

Further investigations are underway.
