A 42-year-old Gozitan man from Xaghra died at Ramla l-Hamra in Nadur after facing difficulties while swimming on Friday afternoon.

Members of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corp pulled the lifeless body ashore and attempted to reanimate him with basic life support however attempts proved futile.

The beach’s lifeguards were assisted by the police, paramedics from Gozo General Hospital and members of the Civil Protection Department.

Further investigations are underway.
