This year, Oħloq Tbissima starts at noon on Friday 3rd August and carries on uninterrupted till midnight of Sunday 5th August. Once again this year, as in previous years, the aim of this marathon is to raise missionary awareness whilst raising funds in aid of the missions in the care of the Missionary Society of St. Paul (MSSP), in the Philippines, Peru and Pakistan as well as in aid of St. Joseph Home in St. Venera and also towards Evangelisation through the media.
This year the marathon is being inaugurated by His Excellency Archbishop Paul Cremona and President George Abela. Televiewers and those present will also be able to watch various features of the missions in Peru , including footage of the Missionary experience of the President and the team of volunteers.
On Saturday morning at 10.15am Prime Minsiter Dr. Lawrence Gonzi and the Leader of the Opposition Dr. Joseph Muscat, together with Mrs Gonzi, Mrs Muscat, will visit Oħloq Tbissima to participate in an activity wherein boxed hampers will be filled in with food to be sent to Peru by container. They will also be joined by other Members of Parliament.
On Sunday morning mass will be celebrated at 9am. At the end of mass an activity will take place wherein the boxed hampers will be carried to a nearby container by those present. This mass is being broadcast on TVM, NET TV, ONE TV and Favourite TV. Oħloq Tbissima comes to an end at midnight.
The public are encouraged to participate both by visiting the activity at St. Joseph Home in St. Venera and also by giving their monetary donation. Oħloq Tbissima will be broadcast in its entirety on Favourite TV with various links on TVM, NET TV and ONE TV. Oħloq Tbissima will also be streamed live on CAM Production international’s website www.camcpi.org
