Joseph Mallia, Violin Alto player to participate in l’Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée.

Two years ago, the Music Festival of ‘Aix-en-Provence’ twinned with l’Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée to create the Orchestra Academy of the Festival of Aix-en-Provence. Within this framework and with the remarkable collaboration of the London Symphonic Orchestra, every summer distinguished young musicians from all over the Mediterranean are invited to participate in musical master classes in the south of France.

L’Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée this year brought together 98 young musicians from allover the Mediterranean namely Albania, Algeria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Spain, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Monaco, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal , Slovenia, Syria, Palestinian Territories, Tunisia and Turkey.

This experience gives participants valuable insights of the professional music careers besides providing them with a unique experience of playing with a professional symphonic orchestra led by the internationally acclaimed conductor Francois-Xavier Roth.

Seven members of the London Symphonic Orchestra played with the L’Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée during two concerts held on the 20 and 21 of July 2012 in Marseille and in Provence. The Embassy was represented at this concert by Mr. Patrick Belosselsky, Honorary Consul of Malta in Marseille.

L’Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée is supported by the Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the French Ministry for Culture and Communication and the Conseil général des Bouches-du-Rhône.
