Elderly injured as St Paul’s Bay house engulfed in flames

Two elderly, a 66-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman, were rescued early on Wednesday as a fire engulfed their home in Triq ir-Rebbiegha, St Paul’s Bay. The 66-year-old man, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The police said the fire was reported at 03:45hrs CEST. Policemen and fire-fighters from the Civil Protection Department rushed to the scene and rescued the two, who were then rushed to Mater Dei hospital.
The man had suffered serious injuries, while the woman and two constables suffered some inhalation, the police confirmed. Further investigations are underway.
