Young musicians wanted
Young musicians are needed for the Malta Youth Orchestra. Alongside strong technique, intonation and rhythmic sense, you should have huge energy for making music, an appetite for discovery, an open mind, and a great team spirit. So if you play flute, bassoon, trumpet, horn, violin, viola, cello, double bass or any other orchestral instrument and have a standard equivalent to Grade 7 (ABRSM/Trinity Guildhall/London College of Music) or higher, (although you don’t need to have taken any exams) you’re eligible to apply.
Rehearsals are held on Saturdays starting at 09:30 hrs at Robert Samut Hall, Floriana. Musicans will have the opportunity to perform in three grand concerts in December, April and the spectacular MPO & MYO concert at Pjazza San Gorg in June, working with the MYO artistic director Joseph Vella and the internationally renowed British conductor Peter Stark. To apply, simply fill in the application from the orchestra web site www.maltaorchestra.com and email to info@maltaorchestra.com, or post to Malta Youth Orchestra Application Form, 88 Old Mint street, Valletta. Shortlisted candidates will be required to sit for an audition. Closing date for applications is Friday 7th September 2012.
